From the beginning of April Wirral Council has removed the Council Tax Holiday. This holiday meant that landlords did not have to pay Council Tax for up to 6 months if the property was empty or being renovated. This has now been removed and this means that the moment a property is vacated the landlord is liable for the Council Tax for the duration of the void period. The best way to reduce this onerous cost is to ensure that you know when a tenant is going to vacate and make sure your agent is marketing the property for up to 2 months before the end of the tenancy. This cost also means that landlords need to respond immediately to any repairs and cleaning that needs carrying out to allow a new tenant to move in quickly.
Martin & Co Bebington are able to assist with these issues and are pursuing ways of trying to limit these costs by making sure that properties are marketed early and turned around quickly.
