Martin & Co (Plymouth) Scoop Award as Fastest Growing Within National Network

Local estate agents, Martin & Co Plymouth, are the fastest growing young business in the Martin & Co network comprising over 200 offices nationwide. The franchise is owned by The Property Franchise Group, which is made up of five different brands and almost 400 offices across the UK.

At their annual awards ceremony, Martin & Co (Plymouth) were awarded as the Best Young Business for 2017. Chris Whitaker, director of Martin & Co Plymouth said, ‘We’ve worked so hard over the last two years and being recognised for the incredible growth we’ve achieved is a fantastic validation of what we’ve been doing and the direction in which we are heading’.

Martin & Co (Plymouth) was launched in April 2015 by husband and wife team Chris and Merolyn Whitaker, both of whom are ex military and have spent the last 20 years building and managing their own property portfolio. The branch has really flourished under their leadership. Merolyn said, ‘It’s been really important to us that we build a strong business with roots of real integrity. We couldn’t have got to where we are now without the incredible team that we’ve got in place’.

Recent months have seen announcements by several of the larger corporate estate agents of closures in Plymouth. ‘At a time when the estate agency sector is becoming increasingly competitive, we are proud that we are able to deliver a quality of service that sets us apart from the crowd. Our rapid growth bears testament to this. The next couple of years are likely to be brutal for estate agents in the city and we would welcome approaches from any independent agent who may be considering their options and looking for opportunities to exit the sector’

It’s been an incredible month for Chris and Merolyn, as Merolyn also featured on BBC2’s Dragons Den’ with her other business, LoveKeepCreate where she received a £50,000 investment and business partnership with renowned investor Deborah Meaden.
