There has been an annual increase of 1.2% for the 12 months to August 2013 according to the Office for National Statistics. There was still however a big difference between London and the rest of the country. In London there were increases of 1.9%, compared to 0.8% in the rest of the UK. The south east reported 1.1% increases.
The index is based on ‘measures in the change of price of renting residential properties from private landlords.’ William Taylor, of Martin & Co Huddersfield (Property Management Huddersfield, Estate Agent Huddersfield & Letting Agent Huddersfield) said “this is obviously good news for landlords across the country, but London is obviously the front runner. We are seeing good returns on investment in Huddersfield, there are some really good opportunities available.”
