The governments 'Help to Buy' initiative is moving forward at pace helping people of all ages, not just first time buyers, get onto the housing market.
There are some common myths around the scheme, the main one being that it is just for new build properties or first time buyers. This is not the case. The scheme is open to anyone buying a home up to £600,000 and you don't have to be a first time buyer - you cannot use the scheme for a holiday home / buy to let though.
William Taylor, Director at Martin & Co Huddersfield (Letting Agent Huddersfield, Estate Agent Huddersfield and Property Management Huddersfield) added "I am aware that there is a lot of scepticism about the Help to Buy scheme creating a property bubble. I don't share this opinion, but what has to be paramount is that people using the scheme are the correct people who will be able to pay their mortgage. Many of our tenants would like to buy, but are unable to save a large enough deposit. These honest and hard working people do deserve help and this is the right scheme to do so."
