The Plymouth housing market has started 2026 with a cautious but encouraging bounce. After some hesitation towards the end of last year, confidence is returning, activity has picked up, and improving affordability is helping both buyers and sellers re-engage as we head toward the key spring selling period ❄️➡️🌱
🔹 A New Year uplift in activity – January delivered a strong seasonal rebound, with buyer demand jumping 57% and new listings rising by 81% in the two weeks after Christmas, alongside Rightmove’s busiest ever Boxing Day for website visits. Average asking prices also rose by 2.8% in January, taking values 0.5% higher than a year ago

🔹 A balanced outlook – Nationally, demand at the start of 2026 is broadly in line with 2024 levels, but supply has risen, with the average agent now marketing 34 homes, the highest figure in eight years, reinforcing a buyers’ market in many areas
