Martin Chander, General Manager at Martin & Co's Wolverhampton branch, has been rewarded with the old Sunbeam factory, which is being converted into 300 rooms for rent by 2018.

Martin Chander was praised by the landlords for his “passionate†approach after staying in contact with him on a weekly basis since January this year.

The deal means a lot to Martin, as his business' biggest ever acquisition. “I'm really humbled the landlord gave us the building, and we'll do our best to fill it with happy tenants on fair rents.

“I felt I sold the Martin & Co proposition to the landlord and our USPs will hold us in good stead when we find residents for the new flats.

“But more importantly, 300 rooms in the city centre is a massive coup for Wolverhampton city centre. There will be more jobs and homes available in a city I love.â€

“It's also great to inherit a building as legendary as the sunbeam factory. This is a big project with a lot of local coverage and I'm already on the lookout for tenants.â€

The sunbeam factory, famous for its motorcycle business, has been empty for 14 years and will be completely refurbished in the next two years at a cost of £10 million, including a grassy area for residents to play sports.

Martin Chander has been part of Martin & Co since 2009, and headed the Wolverhampton office since joining the business.

When complete, 32 of the rooms will be dedicated to housing those with learning disabilities, with the others available for private rent.
