British Summer Time ends this weekend but there is still time to sell your home

Today we focus at the best ways to market a property in the mid-autumn months.

There is still time to make things happen this year despite the fact that the clocks go back this weekend and there is the temptation to think that it’s now all about waiting for Christmas.

With still 9 week’s to go until the magical day there’s no time like the present to re-evaluate where and how you want to live. The Stamp Duty holiday continues until 31 March 2021 and a lot of interest remains in the local property market.

No matter what time of year it is however there are some basics that apply when looking to sell: declutter, carry out essential repairs and maintenance and get the price right.

All that said here are some additional thoughts to maximise your chances of a good sale.

First impressions – ensure the first impression viewers get when they arrive at your home is a positive one. Kerb appeal is important.

Garden – consider adding some colour and volume to borders or pots by planting winter bedding plants. Sweep up fallen leaves and cut the heads off withered flowers.

Lighting – seek to get the best of the natural light by opening curtains and blinds. Replace faulty light bulbs and consider purchasing a few bright, warm table lamps. Aim for a warm, welcoming glow.

Heating – ensure your home feels warm and cosy before any potential buyers arrive. If you’re lucky enough to have an open fire or wood burning stove consider making the most of the feature as you want any viewers to imagine themselves relaxing by the fire on a dark winters evening.

This has been a difficult year in many ways however people are continuing to reassess their priorities and with interest rates remaining low there’s still an opportunity to fulfil your dream move.

If you’re feeling that you are ready to do so, please get in touch. We’re here to help.
