Loss of the zero tariff

Recently two big energy companies (SWALEC & British Gas) have removed their zero tariff for landlords, when the property is vacant for a couple of days or property rennovations are going on for a couple of weeks. The change in decision by the two companies is due to changes in legislation, and therefore can no longer offer the services.


From now on landlords will be charged a daily standing charge when a tenant vacates and there is a small void period. This may provide an admin nightmare as landlords will now have to deal with paying mediocre charges as little as a few pence. Any landlords using a fully managed service will not need to worry about this admin problem as the letting agent should be doing it. However, the cost must be paid by the landlord.
