Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Light At The End Of The Tunnel

As demand is outstripping supply for property in the private rental sector in mnay areas of the UK, many tenants are struggling to find a place to live.

However there could be light at the end of the tunnel for many of these tenants. Recent research conducted by ARLA and the Residential Landlords Association found that a third of landlords interviewed were planning on expanding their portfolio's in the next 12 months.

According to a survey of 1,519 UK landlords,  the regions with the highest number of landlords buying property in the last 12 months were the North-East, the Midlands and Greater London.

Ian Potter, operations manager at ARLA, said  “While it is a positive sign that landlords are continuing to purchase rental properties, this individual activity needs to be boosted by larger-scale investment. With demand still far outstripping supply, and home ownership out of reach for many, it is critical that more people have access to a home of their choice.”
