Empty property? Changes to council tax may prove expensive

The council tax bills for 2014/15 will have been landing on your doorsteps recently.

Wakefield Metropolitan District Council changed their policy on empty homes from April 2013 and you could find yourself with a council tax bill to pay once your property has been unoccupied for more than 30 days.

Martin & Co recognise that keeping the void period between tenants to a minimum is very important to landlords and this change in council tax policy increases the pressure to ensure a quick turnaround.

We understand the way your letting agent manages the end of a tenancy is as important as getting the tenants signed up in the first instance.

If you've got an empty property and are faced with an unexpected council tax bill now might be the time to think about changing your letting agent.

Martin & Co in Pontefract is the only letting agent in the Pontefract and Castleford area licensed by NALS - the National Approved Letting Scheme (correct as at July 2014). For your peace of mind we're also a member of SAFEagent and include client money protection as standard.
