Should you buy or sell a property during lockdown?

Okay, let's start with the obvious - you can buy or sell your home now as we have been given the green light from the government last month. Since then, we have been conducting several successful viewings and market appraisals for our clients looking to sell or buy their home. What has taken us by surprise is that the market seems to be very active and we are finding ourselves to be very busy - not far off the activity levels seen 'pre-covid'.

To reflect this, Rightmove recorded it’s busiest ever day on Wednesday 27 May. The property site surpassed six million visits for the first time and up 18% on the same Wednesday in May last year.

Search activity was reported as turning into action with record levels too, by people phoning and emailing estate agents through Rightmove. This was also up 18% on the same day last year. The great news for Plymouth is that coastal areas of Devon and Cornwall have seen the biggest rise in demand throughout the country, making record numbers for both the area and the country.

With interest being this high, now (strangely) seems to be a good time to put your property up on the sales market. Similarly, if you are looking to buy, there will be plenty of properties on the market right now, offering you a vast array of options. If it's listed through us, it will have a 360-degree virtual tour for you to take in whilst at home - easy, right?

If we could help you buy or sell, or you are just curious and have some questions, please contact our office on [email protected] or 01752 255255.
