Oxford Brookes University Ruby Union Club have entered into a 3-year agreement with one of Oxford city’s leading letting and property management agents, Martin & Co, which will see the university’s 1st and 2nd teams carry the firm’s logo on their newly designed shirts for the 2014/15 season.
The initiative to raise funds for the forthcoming season came from the playing members. Some financial help was on hand from the university but the club set a target needed to buy brand new kit for both teams and approached Martin & Co for help in the fund raising project.
Spokesman for the rugby club, Will Watson, said “When we told the University about the sponsorship agreement, they were very happy to hear the news. I would like to thank Martin & Co for their sponsorship. It has helped the club massively and all the boys are appreciative.”
Owner of the award-winning agents, Bob Urwin, said “We have had similar arrangements with local youth football teams in the past, including Oxford City FC and Summertown Stars but this was an opportunity where we could do something for the ‘gown’ rather than the ‘town’. I know OBU Rugby Union Club have had its ups and downs, but the representation made to my firm by its current players impressed me by their passion and endeavour to succeed. I hope everyone gets behind them to make sure they do.”
