An application has been made to Newcastle Borough Council to extend planning permission to develop a former car dealership site. The application is for a small development of 12 2 and 4 bedroom homes. Outline permission was granted originally in 2008 but the land has remained undeveloped. It is expected that planning permission will be granted subject to a condition that requires a contribution towards open space and transport improvements.
Local residents are generally supportive of the development as long as the houses built are in keeping with the local area as this will tidy up this eyesore. The site is being marketed for £750,000 and the planning extension should be for a further 3 years.
