Redress schemes for letting agency (England only) are likely to be introduced in 2014

The new legislation will require each letting agent in England to belong to one of the approved schemes to ensure that a client who has a complaint that has not been properly addressed by the letting agent have an option to complaint to an ombudsman.

Currently, some 60-70% of agents are voluntary members of already existing Ombudsment. The Government aims to ensure all agents are members of approved schemes.

More details of the new legislation to be found in this memorandum.
