According to tenant referencing firm, Homelet, rents outside our country’s capital remains static. The average monthly rent for a property in London is now £1236, an increase of 4.8% from this time last year.
However, the remainder of the UK sits at an average of £659 per month, a drop of around 0.2% over the same period.
William Taylor, Director of Huddersfield Letting Agent Martin & Co, provided the following commentary “There is no hiding from the fact that money remains tight for many people, especially with regard to property. There has been no significant increase in rents in Huddersfield over the last few years, but what we aim to do is provide a fair rent for both landlords and tenants. Landlords must realize that tenants demand higher standards of living rather than the old days of ‘rising damp’ style properties.”
