New ideas for loans for bonds from Shelter

New ideas for loans for bonds from Shelter

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, has backed a proposal by Shelter that employers should be able to offer tax free loans for helping their staff with rental deposits.

A Shelter survey of private tenants in 2012 found that 19% borrowed money to pay their tenancy deposit, with some using payday loans. Shelter is leading by example by offering such a scheme to its own staff, offering up to two month’s salary interest free.

William Taylor of Martin & Co Huddersfield (Letting Agent Huddersfield, Estate Agent Huddersfield, Property management Huddersfield) said “I think this is a good prospect on the whole, but at some point individuals do need to appreciate the value of money and indeed the time and money that most landlords do put into their property.”
