New partnership formed to offer affordable, shared ownership properties

With first time buyers still struggling to take their first steps on the property ladder, national housing association and shared ownership specialist, Raglan Housing has formed a partnership with sales and letting agent, Martin & Co to sell new properties in Leicestershire. The properties on the Britannia Road, Burbage and Meynell Road, Quorn developments will provide affordable properties for first time buyers in Leicestershire, based on a shared ownership basis.

Shared ownership schemes are provided through housing associations and involve buying a share of home (between 25-75 per cent of the home's value) by taking out a mortgage and paying rent on the remaining share.

Raglan owns and manages over 12,500 affordable homes across 95 local authority areas and the agreement with the Martin & Co offices in Hinckley and Loughborough means that Raglan can use the local expertise of Martin & Co to inspect and sell the new build properties at an affordable cost.

“Property prices in the area are unaffordable for most local people and there is a real demand for attractive, high quality modern housing which people can afford,” explained Susan Berry Sales & Marketing Manager for Raglan. “Prices for one of our three bedroom homes at Burbage start at £63,000 for a 40 per cent share which makes them significantly cheaper than most properties.”
