Earlier this year the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) called on the Government to introduce mandatory regulation of the Private Rented Sector (PRS). One of the changes likely to be implemented early 2014 is that all letting agents will have to belong to an ombudsman scheme. ARLA are also calling for all related parties to sign up to a code of practice which would ensure minimum service levels in areas such as qualifications and the holding of client monies.
Angela Tymms, ARLA member & Senior Negotiator at Martin & Co Crawley said “I am very proud that here in Crawley we implemented these proposals many years ago. Our key personnel studied hard for the national lettings qualifications and are ARLA members. We have a programme of continuous professional development to enable us to keep our membership to the association”.
