Martin & Co Newport certainly have plenty to celebrate this week after they were named winners of an award run by Voice magazine, which is owned by Newsquest and is Newport’s premier lifestyle magazine with a monthly circulation of 50,000.

The magazine run the annual Smirnoff ’V Awards’ which gives the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite businesses, every award given is based purely on the number of votes received by businesses as voted by the public of Newport. This year’s 36,151 votes were a record breaker for Voice magazine – almost quadrupling last year’s number. Beating off stiff competition from established estate agents in Newport, Martin & Co won the coveted ‘Best Estate Agent of the Year’ award in recognition of the record-breaking success they have achieved over the last year. They were presented with the award by Red Dragon FMs Darren Lee at a rather splendid ceremony at Escapade in Newport City centre on October 16th. The whole event was a great opportunity for the businesses of the city to celebrate their achievements. The office are truly award winners, already this year winning best launch at Martin & Co UKs AGM and out of 150+ offices runner up for best office nationally. Indeed, Martin & Co is now firmly established in the very forefront of the Newport lettings sector. On receiving the award, a delighted Neil Williams said: “This is a tribute to all the hard work that the entire Newport team have put in over the past year, and an achievement everyone can be very proud of indeed. At heart, successful lettings are all about people, and this award proves that at Martin & Co in Newport we have some of the very best people in the business!” The event was used as a fundraiser for one of the cities most worthy charities – St Anne’s Hospice, which provides hospice care for terminally ill patients. Much of the money required to run the hospice is raised through donations, and as the Voice charity, the V awards provides a great opportunity to give them a helping hand. Businesses had the opportunity to purchase tables at the awards and donate prizes for a raffle, Neil added, “We are extremely pleased to win this award as firstly we had the opportunity to help a good cause with St Anne’s Hospice, we were pleased to purchase a table for our staff and donate a prize to the raffle. Secondly, it was voted by the public, it shows what an impact we have had in such a short space of time, we now have 14 staff dedicated to lettings and the largest office in Newport that deals exclusively with lettings and finally the team had a well deserved night out after all their hard work!” Voice General Manager Chris Evans and Editor Emma Stowell-Corten said “It was fantastic to see all of the votes rolling in for Martin and Co. TWO TOP AWARDS FOR MARTIN & CO NEWPORT

Husband and wife team Neil and Lisa Williams, who together own and run the Newport franchise of the UK’s leading specialist lettings agent Martin & Co, have got plenty to celebrate this week after they were named winners of a top award at the company’s AGM.

Beating off stiff competition from across Martin & Co’s 130+ nationwide network, Neil and Lisa won the coveted Best Franchise Launch title in recognition of the record-breaking success they have achieved in their first year, they also came runners up for the best office of the year.

They were presented with the award by the company’s founder and chairman, Richard Martin, at a glittering award ceremony held at the luxury Bosworth Hall Hotel in Warwickshire on Saturday 26th April 2008.
