Are you Gas safe into 2013?

In order to carry out gas work in the UK, you must by law be registered on the Gas Safe Register and landlords are obligated to have a passed Gas Safety Certificate performed on an annual basis.  The consequence for non-compliance is imprisonment, or an unlimited fine, or both.

Part of the checks means that engineers have to be able to see the flue; if this is not possible then inspection hatches will need to be fitted or your boiler will, providing it passes a series of other safety checks, be required to have an audible carbon monoxide alarm fitted.  From the 1st January 2013 Gas Safe Registered engineers will turn off your boiler, with your permission and formally advise you not to use it until inspection hatches have been fitted in the appropriate places.

If you are in any doubt then please contact us at your local Worthing office on 01903 214 814 so we can put you in touch with a Gas Safe Registered engineer.
