Testimonials

Mrs V - Uckfield

“My experience with the Martin and Co Uckfield office, has shown me personally that their reputation is totally justified. The communication is also excellent and that is vital between landlord and letting agent.”

Miss B - Lewes

'Just a quick email to say thank you very much for all the help you and Martin & Co offered me when moving into the new property, first with the viewings and follow up calls and then with the speed of moving things along. I have rented with several companies over the years but have never received the same high level of customer service and care that you and your team offered'.

About the East Sussex Town

With detailed local knowledge, our offices cover properties to rent in Uckfield, Crowborough, Lewes, Heathfield, Hailsham, Newhaven, Peacehaven and all surrounding villages.

Why is this area the place to live?

Uckfield is a contemporary market town with an 'up-market' image known for its successful and varied shopping facilities and commercial opportunities, offering an attractive and welcoming environment, whilst maintaining its own distinctive identity and acting as a hub for surrounding towns and villages. The Uckfield farmers market which held once a month it the largest within Sussex, with over 35 stalls regularly available.  A major benefit of living or visiting this vibrant town is that there is free car parking throughout the centre.  The recently improved rail service offers a direct high speed rail link to central London, in addition there are over 20 local bus routes serving all corners of the county.  Uckfield has a top class college with over 75% of pupils clearing to their first choice University, making it one of the best exducational institutes around.  Uckfield benefits greatly in that all the car parking throughout the town is free.

The average advertised renal price for a two bedroom house within Uckfield, as per data provided by Rightmove, between January and March 2013 was £821 per calendar month

Lewes is the county town of East Sussex, situated in the South Downs National Park and is steeped in tradition.  William the Conqueror gave Lewes to William De Warenne, who built Lewes Castle on the Saxon site and is beautifully preserved and open to the public.  Lewes has very good Motorway links to Gatwick Airport and London beyond, it is also a busy rail hub with direct lines to Brighton, Eastbourne and London. Lewes is ideally situated for students wishing to attend the Plumpton Agricultural College.  It has many tourist attractions including Ann of Cleaves House, Lewes Priory, Glyndebourne Opera House, and the world famous Bonfire Celebrations which are held annually on the 5th November.  The ancient Cliffe area of the town has recently been pedestrianised and an alfresco café culture has sprung up.

Newhaven  - Recent re development of this historic town has led to a resurgance of demand for property in this area and investment from major companies has contributed to this.  Situated on the coast this town has access to the French town of Dieppe by ferry link and the completion of a new marian complex with stunning views means Newhaven has facilities that very few towns can boast of.

Heathfield   A small market town in the heart of Sussex with a very low crime rate makes this a fantastic location. Historically, Heathfield lay on an ancient trackway (The Ridgeway), connecting the South Downs with the Weald, and still boasts some excellant views of the Sussex Countryside and a huge array of public footpaths.  Heathfield also boasts a leisure centre and a college that has just been awarded the prestigious International School Award.

Hailsham  Another market town, which still to this day continues the tradition of having a weekly cattle market.  Whilst being largely rural in character, Hailsham can still boast a variety of local and national shops, restaurants, and several supermarkets throughout the town.  There are plans to further improve the town centre by making it more pedestrian friendly should two new relief roads be granted.
