Preston lettings agency
The Martin and Co Preston office sits on Lune Street in Preston City Centre. We have been trading since January 2009 and cover Preston including Penwortham, Fulwood, east to the Ribble Valley and westward to areas around Kirkham. Locations covered to the south include Bamber Bridge, Leyland, Chorley and the popular Buckshaw Village developments.
We work closely with the Lancaster, Rochdale and Manchester North offices sharing developer information, review of market trends and passing of information vis a vis tenants and landlords in the area. We are a family run business, focusing solely on the lettings market which means we are able to deliver the highest level of service to our tenants and landlords. Our professional and enthusiastic approach often results in referrals from our landlord and tenant clients alike, with comments of 'We're a breath of fresh air’.
We are pleased to announce in Spring 2012 that our Martin & Co Preston agency recently received the ESTAS Bronze Award in the North West (North) region, in recognition of excellent customer service as voted for by clients during the course of 2011. The award was announced by Phil Spencer, the TV property expert at a lavish luncheon & ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane London attended by 550 of the UK’s top estate and letting agents. A fantastic occasion.
The Preston team
Franchise owners Jackie and Andrew Wood have been working in the property market for over twelve years and founded Martin & Co Preston in January 2009. "We have a wealth of knowledge about the local property market and welcome any discussion with reference to property and the lettings market."
Chris is our Lettings Negotiator who started with us in 2010. With an Honours Degree in Property Development he has certainly got to grips with the day to days workings of the office and last year passed all exams leading to the NFOPP Technical Award in Residential Lettings and Property Management.
As our Property Manager, Gary has been part of our business from the early days and is responsible for both cyclical and reactive maintenance. It takes a lot of patience and organisational skills to ensure certificate compliance with a managed property portfolio, something that Gary has in abundance.
Live and rent in Preston
City status in 2002 was a significant achievement for Preston that recognised its long history, diverse community, sub-regional importance and the Council's ambitious future plans. It also means that Preston's national and international profile was raised - increasing the city's potential to attract further investment and jobs.
The city has always had an enviable location and is strategically placed at the very heart of Lancashire's business and transport networks. The city lies at the lowest bridging point of the River Ribble and is the commercial and administrative centre of the County, with Lancashire County Council headquarters, a modern crown courts complex and a wide range of regional and sub-regional offices of public agencies, banks, insurance and other professional bodies. The campus of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is located immediately adjacent to the city centre, with over 35,000 students and strong links to local industry and commerce.
Preston's great location has helped it to adapt and diversify its employment structure from a traditional manufacturing base in textiles and engineering, although British Aerospace Defence continues to employ in excess of 10,000 staff in the sub-region. Recent investment includes two state-of-the-art communication centres (by Homeserve and Carphone Warehouse, who are both UK leaders in their fields) and a regional HQ and distribution centre for Booths supermarket chain on a strategic site next to the M6. Lancashire County Council have also recently opened 'The Red Rose Hub' contact and conference centre in the same location and local firm, James Hall & Co, are proposing to relocate into a 30 million modern distribution centre on 18 hectares of adjacent land.
As a key regional city, Preston will become the 3rd City of the North West alongside Liverpool and Manchester by 2012 and is encompassed by the populations of two adjoining councils, South Ribble (103,867) and Preston City (129,633) (ONS. 2001 census).
Large distributive centres have become well established around Preston, taking advantage of the town's excellent communication links via the M6, M61 (Manchester) M55 (Blackpool), and M65 (East Lancashire) motorways.
The M6 around Preston consists of eight lanes and junction 31a provides direct road links to strategic employment sites east of the motorway. The extension of the M65 to link with the M6 and M61 south of Preston has completed a local high speed road network allowing access to all parts of the North West and beyond.
Preston is a principal station on the West Coast Main Line from London to Glasgow. Railtrack and Virgin Rail (the operator for the Inter City West Coast franchise) have embarked upon multi-million pound investment to improve the line's infrastructure, systems, stations and tiling train technology was introduced in 2004 to significantly reduce journey times.
The city is easily reached from major airports such as Manchester and Liverpool. In addition, the rapidly expanding Blackpool International Airport is just a 30 minute drive away and now receiving flights from a number of European cities with new routes being added all the time.
We are always looking for 1 and 2 bedroom city centre apartments to let out to professionals moving to the area. Our 3 and 4 bedroom houses in Fulwood are popular with families who are looking to take a step up the property ladder and get a little more space. This is true for Lostock Hall and Bamber Bridge which also offer great access to the motorway network which connects Preston with the rest of the country.
