The area

Oxford is a beautiful and historic home to two of the most renowned universities in the UK Oxford University and Oxford Brookes. There is a real mix of people living in Oxford, with students favouring easy access by foot to the city centre and families choosing the quieter suburbs.

Our current tenants come from a wide spectrum undergraduates locating to the area, graduates choosing to settle here, senior managers, company relocations, the military and families - always providing a high demand for properties ranging from 1 and 2 bedroom apartments to large luxury homes.

One and 2 bedroom apartments are very high in demand. Oxford is a very transient city and people come to work or study for just 1 to 3 years. Building land is very limited in the city centre and the availability of modern apartments cannot keep up with this demand. The vast majority of our landlords are buy-to-let investors with more than one property.

Bob, together with daughter Claire, launched their ARLA licensed business in Oxford in 2006 and are now the city centre agent of choice. Bob is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. As MD he operates an "open door" policy. Claire has been recognised as one of the leading individuals in lettings and property management. In 2011 she was named in the Rising Star of the Year category of the Negotiator magazine annual awards. In the same year she was voted into the finals at the national Estate & Lettings Agents Awards as an individual who had given outstanding service - a feat she repeated the following year! Claire is a business management graduate and has gained a Property Professional Award (ARLA) in Residential Lettings and Property Manangement

Sue Urwin — Director and Head of Accounts

As a licensed agency, Martin & Co Oxford are continually audited by The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA). Sue ensures the financial side of the business is always compliant and operating in accordance with industry regulations, with the aim of safeguarding client funds at all times. The firm is a member of the Safe Agent Scheme and holds Client Money Protection insurance cover.

Richard Goodwin — Lettings Manager

Richard is responsible for the day to day running of lettings and property management and ensures that the Oxford office remains efficient, effective and customer driven at all times. Qualified in technical awards, ARLA (Association of Residential Lettings Agents) and NAEA (National Association of Estate Agents), Richard is always available to new and existing landlords offering his expert advice on the Private Rented Sector, current legislative responsibilities, market conditions as well as landlord responsibilities during tenancy.

Lyndi is one of our Senior Consultants and joined Martin & Co in 2007. She is well qualified being a psychology and marketing graduate, gained a Property Professional Award (ARLA) in Residential Lettings and Property Management and has attended several leadership and management courses at the Martin & Co Training Academy. Lyndi has held various marketing and managerial positions over the last 8 years and uses her extensive knowledge and experience to help clients find the right property.

However, he decided to relocate to join award-winning Martin & Co Oxford. Spencer recognised our dominance in the region, but he also appreciated the support network in place which would ensure his skills would not only be noticed, but enhanced, through continuous training with the Martin & Co Academy. This, in turn, would lead him to gain important technical awards necessary in our fast-moving industry. Another graduate of Oxford Brookes University, Afreen's degree in Planning and Property Development has given her the necessary understanding of the property market. Nigel joined Martin & Co Oxford in 2009 and has over 10 years experience working in the Oxfordshire property market. A large part of our portfolio is directly under Nigel's control and he is responsible for the day-to-day property management.. Nigel's principle responsibility is to ensure all management issues from both tenant and landlord are dealt with quickly and effectively to ensure both parties remain happy during the tenancy. Nigel is a graduate, has gained a Property Professional Award (ARLA) in Residential Lettings and Property Management and attended several in-depth courses at the Martin & Co Training Academy.
