It is the fourth largest town by population in Wiltshire, after Salisbury, Chippenham, and the County Town of Trowbridge.

 

Melksham lies about thirteen miles south of Junction 17 of the M4, on the A350. The railway station in Melksham is on the Trans Wilts Rail branch line from Swindon to Salisbury.

The station in Chippenham is only 8 miles away, and offers mainline commuter rail services into London Paddington.

 

Melksham is going through an exciting phase of its long history, with a new Secondary School, a new Asda, new housing developments, and comprehensive plans to expand the amenities for the growing population.
