The Martin and Co Medway Office is on Chatham High Street in the centre of town.  We have been trading since 2002 and cover as Letting Agents the following areas, Rochester, Strood, Isle of Grain, Chatham, Walderslade, Gillingham, Parkwood and Rainham.

The Medway team

All our staff have lived and worked in the Medway area for a long time which means they have built up a bank of excellent local knowledge.

 

Our Lettings team will be happy to advise on all aspects of letting out a property and will provide a personal and friendly service to Landlords and Tenants.

 

The Property Management team deal with all the ongoing maintenance and administration necessary for rental properties. 

 

Our Office/Property Manager has extensive knowledge of the legal aspects involved, in particular with deposit queries, and has gained an Advanced Legal Training certificate.

Live and rent in Medway

Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham and surrounding areas are colloquially known as the Medway Towns due to their location along the River Medway.  

 

Medway is undergoing widespread regeneration with many new homes being built in riverside locations. It is only 40 minutes from London St Pancras station on the high speed rail link and is within easy access of the coast and all services to Europe.

 

In recent years a number of universities have established Medway campuses. These include Greenwich University, University of Kent, Canterbury Christchurch and Mid-Kent College.  Additionally there is a campus for the University of Creative Arts in Rochester. The student population is increasing every year and student rental properties are always in demand.  Many landlords have entered the student letting market and Martin & Co Medway have extensive knowledge of this specialist area.  We have worked closely with the Accommodation Officers at the universities on a large number of properties.

 

Medway has a number of excellent Grammar Schools in Chatham, Rochester and Rainham, which achieve outstanding results at GCSE and A' Level.

 

Rochester is a very historic area used as the setting for Miss Havisham’s house in Charles Dickens' “Great Expectations”. There are several well known Charles Dickens festivals held here, attracting fans from all over.  The festivals celebrate the Victorian era and people from all over the country attend, many in Victorian costume.  

Rochester Castle is an English Heritage site and Rochester Cathedral is a popular tourist attraction.  A series of open air musical concerts are held in the castle grounds every summer. Rochester is also the main area for nightlife with a number of restaurants, pubs and the Casino Rooms Nightclub.  

 

Chatham Historic Dockyard is a World Heritage Centre.  Chatham was a naval town from the time of Henry VIII until the working dockyard closed in the 1980s.  It is now a major tourist attraction with a dry dock submarine, a renovated wooden sailing ship and various displays and events throughout the year.  

 

In addition,  there is a secure residential area, with a mix of old and new housing, inside the walls of this unique and historic location.

 

We always require 2 and 3 bedroom family houses in Medway.  We have a mix of landlords with large or small portfolios and single properties.  We also deal with many landlords residing overseas who have moved abroad but want to maintain property in the UK.
