With a history of coal mining and railway engineering the town features a large proportion of  Victorian terrace properties for which there is strong demand. Ex council properties or good family homes on private housing developments are popular, as are the modern 3 story homes. Irrespective of the number of potential tenants intending to live in a house, 3 & 4 bedroom properties are sought after, though at the opposite end of the market affordable single bed houses and flats let quickly. Expensive property lets most readily if it is located on one of the outlying villages or towns with Bawtry and Tickhill being particularly popular, though the traditional ‘upmarket’ areas such as Bessacarr and Sprotbrough are also sought after.

Doncaster properties still represents excellent value for money and attract a diverse group of landlords ranging from those who choose to let their former homes in preference to selling them, to Landlords with large, varied portfolios. Doncaster provides a varied choice for those looking for 6th form education with the new ‘Hub’ college, working in unison with some local universities, providing a small but diverse student population.  Doncaster is one of the country’s largest towns and as such offers the national restaurants, pubs and clubs you would expect along with many locally owned theatres and restaurants, there is something to suit all tastes. Need something more adventurous? Sheffield and Leeds, with a combined population of over 1.3 million, or world renowned York are only 30 minutes away.

It started in Doncaster in 1776, the world’s oldest horse race, The St Ledger, is celebrated each September at Town Moor, which has recently undergone major redevelopment with a brand new stand to complement the traditional building together providing a venue comparable with any in the country. Also new are the Keepmoat Stadium, home to Doncaster Rovers and often the venue for concerts and the Dome Leisure centre. If you enjoy the romance of steam travel then you may recall many of the country’s best loved locomotives were built in Doncaster including the Flying Scotsman. Doncaster still retains a link with current rail travel with carriages still being built here and there is a busy industry reconditioning existing rolling stock.

Transport infrastructure is one of the areas where Doncaster is unbeaten; it is situated beside the A1 and M18 with the M1 and M62 only 10 minutes drive away. Doncaster has a fast train service to London reaching the capital in around 100 minutes with comprehensive services to the north and cross country. The recently opened Doncaster Sheffield Robin Hood Airport’ is probably the longest and least friendly named airport in Britain but offers excellent facilities and an expanding choice of destinations. That not enough variety? Hull docks are only a short drive away with ferries to many of the northern European ports.

It is well documented that the region suffered greatly with the loss of both the steel and coal industries but there is still considerable manufacturing and engineering in the area. Yorkshire people are known for their straightforwardness, an attribute we are told engenders trust. The region has therefore benefited from this with numerous service centres

many situated on old colliery sites.
