What it’s like to live in Clapham?

Clapham is a diverse, highly cosmopolitan and desirable place to live with a number of facilities ranging from shopping to leisure activities. It further homes several restaurants, pubs, clubs, bars and cafes most of which are substantially popular with the crowd. Clapham has seen its fair share of famous residents from Samuel Pepsy (1703) to more recent residents including JK Rowling, Vivienne Westwood, Piers Morgan and Vanessa Redgrave.

Known for the vast amount of green space, Clapham is a brilliant and lively location to live in however, depending on whether you’re buying or renting, Clapham can be an extremely expensive area. Clapham covers the postcodes SW4, parts of SW8, SW9 and SW12 and is home to mainly young, affluent individuals in their 20s and 30s as well as university students and graduates.

Clapham High Street has many of the basic shops such as Superdrug, Boots, some book, gift and jewellery shops as well as supermarkets.  Clapham Junction on the other hand is a far better shopping experience with Debenhams and a few other clothing retailers. However, with excellent transport services and links, it is worth talking a 20 minute trip in to central London for the ultimate shopping experience.

Clapham High Street is further packed with restaurants and takeaways. There is a wide variety of just about any cuisine you like with a range of budgets that are catered to you; there will be no problem finding a late opening KFC or kebabs after a night out. Around the Common there are a few lovely little places to dine and go to for brunch on the weekends and if you enjoy your Indian Cuisine Tooting is down the road.

As well as being a vibrant location, Clapham also has a buzzing nightlife; the two main places of entertainment are Clapham Junction and Clapham High Street.  Inferno’s is a popular nightclub which often hosts seventies nights and interesting music, it become especially busy at the weekend. A more contemporary choice of music can be found at Revolution, a bar/club aimed at individuals in their 20s with cash to spend.  Clapham Junction also has bars/clubs such as Indigo, which is 5 minutes from the station and plays a variety of dance music. Aside from this, Clapham, like most areas in London has cinemas, leisure centres and many gyms.

Finally, Clapham is also a convenient location to live in due to the excellent options for transport. The Northern line runs from Balham, Clapham South, North and Common straight into London, which takes up to 20 minutes.  You can travel from Clapham Junction to Victoria or Waterloo in under 10 minutes.  All trains run frequently as well as both busses and night buses.

'I want to thank you and your staff for finding such a suitable tenant for my flat and what is more, in accomplishing this in such a very short time span. Long voids in private lettings are a real problem for landlords as you will appreciate but in this case to get someone moving in so quickly is a real bonus.Experiences I have had with other Letting Agents in the Balham area have not been good so it was a real pleasure dealing with you and to benefit from your appraisal of the new tenant and then getting the references to me. I have been a private residential landlord in London and Surrey for 50 years so I speak with some experience.'
