The Martin and Co Bedford office is prominently situated on St. Loyes Street in "estate agents alley", right in the centre of Bedford. The Bedford Office has a close working relationship with the Milton Keynes office. The two territories are clearly defined by the M1 motorway.

The Bedford team

Neil Fraser has been a Martin & Co Franchisee since 2000 after a long & successful career in consumer electronics retailing and distribution. 

 

Neil is ably supported by his co-director, Lorena Niro, who has been a member of the team for over three years after a career in property management in Central London.  Lorena is fluent in Italian which is a great benefit to the huge number of Italians living in Bedford.  Lorena's principle duties are to monitor the collection of rents and payments to Landlords.  She is also our legal expert!

 

Darren Novis acts as our Senior Lettings Negotiator, responsible for contact with Landlords, Tenants and Applicants and has a number of years experience of the property market in Bedford.  Darrens principle outlook in life is to bring more quality properties into the Martin & Co portfolio.

 

Joanna Baldowska, Senior Property Manager, has been with the company for over three years and has 6 years experience of the property market in Bedford.  Her native tongue is most beneficial in dealing with the large number of Polish tenants in the portfolio.  Joanna's principle duties are general property maintenance, inventories and check ins & check outs.

 

Alexandra (Alex) Pilley, Property Manager, joined the team in early 2010 and has taken to the job with much enthusiasm.  She shares the duties of Property Management with Joanna. 

 

Daniel Dover joined us in late November 2011 as Lettings Negotiator working alongside Darren Novis in letting properties.  Daniel has three years experience of lettings in Bedford and will bring more enthusiasm and professionalism to the team.

 

Live and rent in Bedford

Bedford, the county town of Bedfordshire, is situated between the M1, J13 and the A1.  It boasts a high speed rail link, taking just forty minutes to get to St. Pancras and London City.  It sits half way between Cambridge and Oxford and there is a very regular bus service which runs between the three locations.  Over the last three years we have noticed that many people are moving to the area and commuting into the City, to take advantage of the lower rental prices.

 

Bedford town is best known for its rowing and rugby, the highlight of the year is the annual River Festival one of the country’s biggest free events.  Bedford has four renowned private schools under the umbrella of the Harpur Trust.  In addition, two of the best council schools in the area, Sharnbrook Upper and Wootton Upper are in our territory.  Bedford is not short of pubs, clubs and restaurants of all cuisines, the nightlife tends to be concentrated around Bedford High Street, in the town centre.      

 

We are always looking for good quality properties in our territory, whether it be a studio apartment or a five bedroom executive home, from a rural setting to a modern estate. The most important thing for us is quality; we are very strict on the quality of property we accept from new Landlords. If it is not up to standard, we will advise on how to present the property in the most favourable way.

 

Our typical Landlord has one or two properties although we do have one with a portfolio of fifty properties. We deal with Landlords from all over the world but the majority are in the Bedford area.

 

Tenants come in all shapes and sizes, all nationalities and all ethnic groups. We encourage corporate tenants as they tend to be long term stable tenants.  

 

We have developed a close relationship with two major relocation agencies who house the employees of large companies in the area.
