Owners of buy-to-let properties have been urged to prepare for winter by having quality insulation installed in their buildings.
Installing cavity and wall insulation can significantly improve the energy efficiency of a home, cutting down on both CO2 production and energy bills for tenants.
Landlords in Yorkshire can take advantage of a scheme which offers them a discount on the purchase and professional insulation of wall cavity and loft insulation.
The scheme, a partnership between renewable energy firm Solarwall, East Riding of Yorkshire council and energy company nPower, has proved hugely successful in recent years and due to popular demand will be operating again this winter.
It is available to private homeowners and private landlords or their tenants, subject to the landlord's approval, in the East Riding of Yorkshire Council area and means that cavity wall insulation can be installed for only £99 and loft insulation from £109.
Councillor Symon Fraser, cabinet portfolio holder for environment, housing and planning, said: "There's no denying that last winter was a cold one and, with the weather and the current economic climate biting, it has never made so much sense to insulate properties before this winter comes around.
"It is great news that East Riding of Yorkshire Council is continuing its joint commitment with nPower and contractor Solarwall Limited to make homes across the area warmer."
In previous years the partnership has resulted in the insulation of around 12,000 cavity walls and 11,000 lofts in the region.
It follows a recent survey by the National Landlords Association which found that the majority of landlords would at least consider making energy efficient improvements under the government's soon-to-be-introduced Green Deal scheme.
Under the Green Deal, cheap loans will be provided which landlords and private homeowners can use to make upgrades to their properties and lower their energy consumption.
The loan can then be repaid using the resulting savings on utility bills.
